Click here to sign up!  for our Fall 2023 Musical Theatre Willy Wonka

Class & Performance Location: Main Auditorium for rehearsals and performance.  Roscomare Road Elementary, 2425 Roscomare Road, Los Angeles, CA 90077

Roscomare has partnered with Upstage Theatre Schools to offer after-school performing arts education. Upstage puts on professional productions with Directors, Choreographers, musical directors, and brings in stage equipment to enhance our stage and lighting. Each year our programs sell out, and result in sold-out smash hits.

Upstage Theatre productions feature ensemble casting, and an environment for the child to find their own level in their own time. Their overall objective is for the student to feel joyful and creatively fulfilled when performing, and their hope is that all students grow in confidence, make new friends and learn new skills.

Play Description:
Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.

Class Description: Registration for Willy Wonka, our after-school musical production class, is for Roscomare students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. Classes/rehearsals will be held twice a week on Tuesday & Thursday for 2 hours each.

The class introduces theater vocabulary and technique through interactive theater games and scene practice as well as music and dance taught by professionals. The teachers are highly qualified with many aggregate years’ experience in Children’s Theater. Each child is encouraged to fully participate and is considered an integral part of our final production. All children will be in the show. Please check the production dates below, as we expect every child to be present for rehearsals, and both show dates.
