Friends of Roscomare organizes and makes this wonderful after school theater program possible as well as all of our daytime arts programs with staff and materials for Music, Visual Art, Science, Technology and PE. Priority will be given to F.O.R. member families who support Friends of Roscomare with their share of Annual Giving yearly. If you request to drop the class after payment is made, no refund will be given so please be sure this program works with your schedule, and your child’s interest, prior to making a payment. If your child is not admitted to the program, a refund will be given. Registration confirmations will be sent via email.

Rehearsals/classes begin Feb. 18 (Tues. & Thurs.) plus one Wednesday class during show week. There will be two Shows, Friday,  May 1st at 4:30pm and Saturday, May 2nd at 2 pm (12:30 call time).

Roscomare has partnered with Upstage Theatre Schools for the 4th year to offer after-school performing arts education.  Upstage puts on professional productions with Directors, Choreographers, musical directors, and brings in stage equipment to enhance our stage and lighting.  Each year our programs sell out, and result in sold-out smash hits.

Founded on the principle that theater should be fair and fun, Upstage Theatre productions feature ensemble casting, and an environment for the child to find their own level in their own time. Their overall objective is for the student to feel joyful and creatively fulfilled when performing, and their hope is that all students grow in confidence, make new friends and learn new skills.

Play DescriptionThe jungle is jumpin’ with a jazzy beat in Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS. Specially adapted from the classic Disney animated film, Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS features a host of colorful characters and your favorite songs from the movie.

Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.

The class introduces theater vocabulary and technique through interactive theater games and scene practice as well as music and dance taught by professionals. The teachers are highly qualified with many aggregate years experience in Children’s Theater. Each child is encouraged to fully participate and is considered an integral part in our final production. All children in the program will be in the show. Please check the production dates below, as we expect every child to be present for rehearsals, and show dates Friday May 1st 4:30pm and Saturday May 2nd 2pm.
